Atkins Orchard
Atkins Orchard is located in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina in Saluda. People drive for miles for our delicious Apple, Cherry, Muscadine and Peach Ciders. In addition to the ciders, we have a variety of products such as jams, jellies, pickles, butters and honey.
Farwell Garden
Located behind Tryon Fine Arts Center, find this beautifully landscaped brick patio with fountain and stained-glass-topped benches. Flowers bloom almost year around. Indoor facilities available, if inclement weather. Bathrooms and kitchen facilities included.
FENCE - Foothills Equestrian Nature Center
On this 390-acre nature preserve, find hiking and horseback-riding trails, nature center, pond, boardwalk, and picnic area. FENCE and the Pacolet Area Conservancy Saturday hikes throughout the year. Check the calendar for equestrian events, bird walks, concerts, and more. Free and open to the public

Green River
Class I, II and III rapids make for great float trips and kayaking classes on the scenic Green River. Class IV rapids for advanced paddlers. The phone number for the water flows on the Green River is 828-698-2068. For information on fly fishing call 828-749-3444.
Green River Cove
North Carolina gamelands with two access areas to the Green River--Fish Top and Big Rock offering kayaking, tubing, hiking and other outdoor activities. However, swimming is not allowed. Hiking trail map available through First Peak Visitor Center.
Green River Farm Mill Spring
Pick your own blueberries! Quiet location with beautiful mountain views and picnic tables. Limited quantities of berries. Call for availability. Wednesday through Sunday from 9 am to 1 pm, mid-June through July.
Green River Plantation
A magnificent, nineteenth-century, forty-two-room mansion resting on 366 acres. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This stately home was built in 1804 and has been lovingly restored to its original grandeur.

Morris the Horse, a well loved landmark standing on the corner of Trade and Pacolet Streets, has proudly represented Tryon since 1928. He is a symbol of the community's love of horses and a replica of an era gone by when wooden toy horses were made in Tryon and shipped all over the country.

Pacolet River Scenic Byway
Drive along this scenic 10-mile byway that follows the Pacolet River from Tryon to historic Saluda. View waterfalls, wildflowers, and beautiful vistas. Take US 176 North from Tryon or South from Saluda.
Pearsons Falls

Scenic Drives
For scenery, take Houston Road out of Columbus (stay right at fork), turn left onto White Oak Mountain Road and drive to the top, passing Shunkawauken Falls. Continue on the gravel road to Sunset Rock with its expansive views. Spend a few minutes and snap a photo, then head back the way you came.
Shunkawauken Falls
Scenic views abound as you drive to the top of White Oak Mountain and pass Shunkawauken Falls. This is a wonderful opportunity for people who can't easily walk to the other waterfalls in our area. It takes about 20 minutes to drive the winding residential road to the top of the mountain.

Beautiful small park with fountain and memorial to Polk County war veterans. Picnic tables, water tap. This is the site of the Columbus Summer Concert series and other special events. Located on the corner of Gibson and Ward St.
