FALL TRACKS “RAISE THE ROOF” CONCERT
TRYON, N.C.—Rogers Park in downtown Tryon will be jamming once again on Sunday, October 8 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to the sounds of the Jay Lichty Band, the Lone Derangers and Jackson Crossing,. A continuation of the popular Summer Tracks series, this Fall Tracks special event is being held to raise money for stage improvements at Rogers Park, specifically a stage cover for rain protection. Thus the name, “Raise The Roof”.
“All the performers and organizers are donating their time and talents to this Fall Tracks ‘Raise the Roof' Concert,” says Peter Eisenbrown of Blockparty Productions, who has produced Summer Tracks for the last seven years. "All of the performers scheduled for Fall Tracks consistently draw enthusiastic crowds in Polk County, so we’re looking forward to a good turnout on October 8, and, I hope, a good amount of support for the stage. This summer's series was a huge success. A rain cover for the stage will help ensure programming like this can grow. ”
The Jay Lichty Band features Jay Lichty on vocals, mandolin and banjo; Jay Goree on vocals and keyboard; Bobby Love on drums; and Randolph Simpson on bass. They perform original Folk-Rock-American and Country material.
The Lone Derangers’ eclectic repertoire embraces Americana and folk/rock. Playing originals and covers, the band consists of Doug Dacey, vocals and guitar; Jay Lichty, vocals, banjo and mandolin; Stan Halbcat, vocals and upright bass; and Andy Costine, vocals and guitar.
Closing the show, the ever-popular Jackson Crossing plays their mix of original music and amazing arrangements of covers from the likes of Van Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton. Their energetic, heart-stirring performances have earned them a loyal and enthusiastic following throughout the region. Rick Willis, singer-songwriter in the band, has a soulful baritone that lays testament to every word he sings, and critics say his playing of the Les Paul guitar is the stuff legends are made of. Jeremy Saunders, saxophonist, has played with one the most popular national touring groups in the nation, “Acoustic Syndicate.” The newest member of the band, Scott Stinson keeps a steady beat on the drums. And Tim Clement brings the bass guitar to the front of a quartet without being overwhelming. Jackson Crossing Fall Tracks' performance also features special guests Rusty Barkley and Jimmy Thornburg from Charlotte’s Part Time Blues Band.
Concert-goers are encouraged to give whatever amount they can at the gate. Rogers Park is located on Howard Street in Tryon. Gates open at 4 p.m. Music starts at 5 p.m., rain or shine.
