Return to First Peak Home Page
Hello,
When it comes to fall color, we've been a 'late bloomer' this year. We finally had a cold snap and that has set our color in motion. It's getting gorgeous now - brilliant yellows, oranges and reds are popping out everywhere!!! At this rate, we're sure to have color during Thanksgiving. So come see us for a last dose of blue sky, brilliant fall colors, and some lovely fall weather.

Thanksgiving Weekend Happenings
Come to the First Peak for Thanksgiving! Have your family get-together at one of our classic inns and B&B or rent a large cabin with a fabulous kitchen perfect for cooking a giant meal. Even better, let someone else do the cooking for you: make reservations for a mid-day meal featuring all the trimmings at Green River Plantation or the 1903 Mimosa Inn. Round out the weekend with some hiking, shopping and events like dinner and live bluegrass at Ward's Grill, or a behind-the-scenes peek into the equestrian world with a tour of extravagant horse barns decorated for the holidays. Holiday Shopping - Creative Gifts for Everyone
Whether you shop our quality downtown stores or venture throughout the First Peak to discover original gifts, holiday shopping is a pleasure in our area. You could take care of all your needs at one event - like the Christmas Strolls (see story below), the Presents of Art at Upstairs Artspace or enjoy a beautiful drive and discover artists along the Backroads Studios Holiday Tour. Drop in to cool stores and galleries like Tryon Arts and Crafts Gallery, Vines and Stuff, Salamander and Saluda Wine and Cheese. Or maybe you've never been into these shops: Smoke Signals Trading Post for Native American gifts, Evening Shade Pottery for a custom-made face mug, or Old Mill Market Square and Architectural Warehouse in the same building for an amazing array of antiques, furniture and design elements. You're sure to have a fun experience! Read More...
