APRIL 2011
Return to First Peak home page
Hello,

Wow - we've had the best spring so far!  We've held on to the mild spring temperatures and the plants are loving it!  Dogwood and ornamental cherry blossoms abound as you drive through the First Peak, as do new leaves in every shade of spring green - it is an outstanding time for a visit to our area.  Don't miss our spring woodland wildflowers and outdoor events that this area is known for!  Book a cabin or an inn that fits your style.  The Steeplechase is the First Peak’s biggest and most exciting equestrian event of the year. Join the crowds that come for the thundering of hooves as they navigate a challenging course over several races.

Spring Beauty...
ornamental cherry blossomsIt is just gorgeous here right now.  I know spring is lovely everywhere, but springtime in the mountains is a special thing.  The wildflowers like trillium and foam flower are blooming in abundance at Pearson's Falls.  They are open daily and have 2 guided wildflower walks coming up this month.  And let's not forget that after enjoying all those woodland beauties, you end up at a magnificent 90-foot waterfall!

All our early blooms have faded away and we are in the late spring phase - azaleas, dogwoods, ornamental cherries, etc. are wowing us in Columbus, Tryon and Green Creek. We can watch the spring greens creeping up the mountin, where Saluda and the surrounding areas are a week or two behind us. Come see usRead More...
