Join William Jameson for a Plein Air and Studio painting workshop appropriate for beginners to advanced who are working in oil, watercolor or acrylics.

During Jameson's 21st year of teaching workshops, this 3 day workshop offers daily demonstrations, one to one painting instruction and critiques. Emphasis will be on composition and color mixing for vibrant paintings. Saluda is a short drive from Greenville and Spartanburg,South Carolina and Asheville, North Carolina.

Music on Stage at McCreery Park Pavilion
One Leg Up at 11am
Based in Asheville, North Carolina, One Leg Up performs a vibrant mixture of upbeat Gypsy Jazz, Latin, Swing and original jazz compositions and is a favorite of club, concert, and festival stages throughout the southeastern United States.

The Danberrys at 1pm
Drawing deep from the blues, folk, bluegrass and soul/funk traditions, the Danberrys deliver inspired original tunes featuring strong harmonies and dynamic musicianship. Company Store, their first EP, was released in April 2010 and was followed by the single Shady Grove in June 2011. The group is currently recording several new songs for upcoming projects.

The Honeycutters at 3pm
Singer/songwriter Amanda Anne Platt, with lead guitarist and producer Peter James who compliments Platt's vocals with seamless harmonies and tasteful instrumentation. Spencer Taylor on mandolin, Ian Harrod on bass, and Richard Foulk on the drums effortlessly round out the Honeycutters sound, creating an original brand of Americana that has proven equally appealing to both the musician and the music lover, the country and the city, and the old and the young.

Music is made available through a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation Saluda Fund.

Children's Art Tent
Children can experiment and unlock his or her creativity at the "Children's Art Tent." Supervised instruction, face painting, and surprises. Located at the Shelter in McCreery Park.

Food
Enjoy a variety of delicious choices from local restaurants at the festival site: Saluda Grade Café, Blue Gypsy Watering Hole, Green River BBQ, Jose's Wood Fired Pizza, Thompson's Store and hotdogs and hamburgers at the Saluda Center on Greenville St.

Saluda United Methodist Church bake sale on the Saluda Center porch.

Youth Performances and Artwork
The Dancer's Extension annual spring concert is scheduled for Saturday, May 19 at 11AM. The concert will take place at the Saluda School Auditorium and admission is FREE! This is held in conjunction with the Saluda Arts Festival.

The Saluda School and Polk County Schools will exhibit artwork in the upstairs of Thompson's Store in the Historic Boarding House Venue at 24 Main Street.

Parking
Parking is available along Main Street, at the Saluda School back parking lot, the Saluda Presbyterian Church on Carolina St., Saluda Methodist Church on Greenville St, the First Baptist Church on Henderson St., the West Main Public Parking Lot, and the Saluda Fire Department on Greenville St. Shuttle transportation will be available.

Directions
Exit 59 off I-26, turn toward downtown and travel one mile, right on Main St. (Highway 176) into town.

Weekend Pottery Workshop

Weekend Pottery Workshop - Explore Your Creative Nature! Leon Nichols, a potter of 30 years and an extraordinarily gifted and patient teacher, will be conducting the first in a series of 2 day intense pottery workshops in Saluda. The emphasis in this workshop will be basic throwing skills, methods of altering and some decorative techniques. Designed for the beginner or intermediate potter, the workshop will provide 12 hours of wheel time with additional demonstrations and pottery samples to stimulate creativity with the clay medium. After the workshop, the studio will be available, without charge, for trimming and independent work to finish individual pieces. Firing is also available. The workshop is limited to 6 students.

Workshop fee is $100 for two days, Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3. Clay and nominal firing charges are extra. This will be stimulating, creative time with a master teacher.

Jim Carson, Saluda artist, will hold his next. plein air ( outdoor) workshop in Saluda on Thursday- Saturday, June 7-9, titled "Fresh Paint." The workshop will be held at three different, but convenient, outdoor locations. It is open to all levels, and although the students can use as many colors as they prefer, Jim will be demonstrating the use of his new limited palette of the three primaries, plus white.
The emphasis in this workshop will be to learn to simplify the landscape by seeing simple shapes, using color balance, and understanding the importance of value and temperature.
