Valentine's Dinner at Marilyn's Melrose Inn
We are having a wonderful Valentine’s Day Dinner! The menu is attached so you can start looking forward to it now. This sumptuous meal also includes hand made chocolates for each diner. After your romantic dinner, adjourn to a beautiful themed room upstairs just $100 for two, including a gourmet breakfast the next morning.
Remember, Friends of the Chef is your own, private dining club….our kitchen staff is ready to accommodate your reservation, for breakfast, lunch, or dinner 7 days a week with a 2 day notice. We have seating for 1 to 60. Just call and tell us the number in your party, the time you would like to dine, and what entrée or entrées you would prefer. We have delicious “complete” meals featuring an array of foods including healthy salads, appetizers, and soups. Also beef, pork, chicken, seafood, and even vegetarian entrees – whatever you and your guests’ desire!
Feel free to bring your own libations; glasses, ice, mixers, and openers are provided at no extra charge.

The Historic Melrose Inn was built in 1889. It is situated in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, in the small, friendly town of Tryon, North Carolina. It is now open, and under new ownership! When you visit you will step into the past, with a modern twist! The owner is Marilyn Doheny, a world famous Contemporary Quilt Artist, author and gourmet chef!
Marilyn’s Melrose Inn - Artist Retreat Center, has been transformed into a lovely, comfortable, friendly, home away from home. Each of the extensively decorated Theme bedrooms has its own private bathroom with shower. The beauty and abundance within each room will amaze you. The Inn has a game room filled with toys, puzzles, cards, books and board games. Wi-Fi is available for guests. The Melrose Inn is also the home of Tryon's first Private Dining Club. Membership is $1 per year and members can reserve dining for 1-60 people--breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Expect a beautiful setting with fabulous food prepared by experienced gourmet chefs. All meals feature fresh local ingredients and menus are customized at the time of reservation. Please plan 24 hours ahead so one of our chefs may tailor the menu to suit your particular tastes and desires. Join us for a culinary feast every month! Dinners are ‘over the top’! A 5-7 course prix fixe extravaganza featuring Chefs Amanda Greene and Marilyn Doheny.
Outdoors on the grounds surrounding the inn, there are several extensive intimate secluded gardens and a huge covered porch to enjoy while having your morning coffee or evening libation while reading, visiting or bird watching. The porch and gardens are lovely for weddings and receptions.
ACTIVITIES AND BOOKINGS
There is every possible activity within a few miles…amazing golf courses, several lakes for fishing, boating, waterskiing and canoeing. We have beautiful hikes, wineries, antique stores, floral garden tours, and equestrian activities year round. Tryon has many special and unique events—a weekend devoted to children, an outhouse race with an Easter Bonnet Contest, and the most amazing BBQ Festival.
Downtown Tryon, as well as numerous churches, are a short walk from the Inn. There are delightful shops and restaurants, even a hardware store worth seeing; a page out of history and owned by the same family for many generations. Everyone you meet is relaxed and friendly – you will never want to leave.
It is possible to rent one room or reserve exclusive use of all facilities at Melrose Inn, for weddings, private parties and weeklong seminars. We are happy to customize our facility and meals to meet your preferences and needs. Discounted rates are available for week long, exclusive use bookings.
We are open year round as a Bed and Breakfast. All overnight guests have a full breakfast included and one evening beer/wine beverage coupon, per night, per guest.
