Green Creek Winery's Chardonnay Rosso Concert Series

Starts: Apr 18 3:00 PM
Ends: Apr 18 5:30 PM

Green Creek Winery's Chardonnay Rosso Concert Series offers you another opportunity to relax with good music on a Sunday afternoon.  The amazing talent this afternoon is Anam Cara, a 4-piece ensemble performing jazzy rhythmic songs and soulful ballads.  Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.

Anam Cara (Gaelic for soul friend) came together in 2005 to collaborate on arrangements for their individual compositions.

Mary Davis has a twenty-five year history of performing in the Asheville area. She and John Paul McNeil, both stringed instrumentalists both bring a solid history of composing and performing to the group.

John Paul's passion for musical collaberation ultimately brought him together with Ed Entmacher, whose had a long-term affair with the piano (jazz in particular), and songwriting. It wasn't long before this musical friendship drew other musicians including Mary, and ultimately led to the opening of the Raven Moon Cafe' in Weaverville, NC, and the creation of the Raven Moon Band.

A more profound synergy began to develop a few years after the Raven Moon Cafe' closed. John Paul met Meredith Holladay, who was relatively new to performance and songwriting, but not to music and poetry . Together with Mary and Ed their collaberations sparked a palpable magic, and evolved into Anam Cara. Linda Kendall-Fields' knowledge of and passion as an accomplished violinist bring an added dimension to their already engaging and moving musical selections.

Anam Cara's music is an eclectic mix of jazzy songs and soulful ballads rendered with lush vocal harmonies.  Combining their original compositions with carefully chosen cover tunes, the group engages heart and mind with stirring melodies and thoughtful lyrics about the challanges of being human, and the longing of the spirit.
