Art Trek Tryon 2010
Explore the art of the foothills through the work of many artists from Polk County and Landrum. Studios will be open to the public free of charge. The event begins Friday evening with a preview party at the gallery from 5 to 8 pm. Studios are open for self-guided tours Saturday July 24, 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday noon to 5 pm. Most of the art is for sale.
The art encompasses most forms and styles including painting, woodturning, ceramics, fabric art, metalsmithing, indoor and outdoor sculpture. You can visit a one room studio or an artist's house to separate buildings, all devoted to studio or gallery space. Many studios enjoy great mountain views.
Towns involved are Tryon, Saluda, Columbus, Mill Spring and Green Creek. The Upstairs Artspace is a non profit contemporary art gallery in downtown Tryon, North Carolina. We exhibit two- and three-dimensional art and craft by leading artists of the Southeast and, particularly, the Carolinas. We have an incomparable reputation for art that is sometimes experimental, often avant garde and always collectible. Our artists are usually established in their careers, but we also welcome the emerging artist whose work is impressive for being fresh, innovative and challenging.
